چکیده
Aim: The aim of this research was to investigate the level pollutants deposition on soil generated from a gas flaring site.
Study Design: Soil Samples for study were picked two sets locations (a proposed flare site situated at Ogbogu Gas plant and control sites sfrom primary source local farm lands). A total number eighteen samples collected five different sampling spots as designated using global positioning system (GPs).
contaminated Site three lands within Ebocha community mapped 20m, 50m, 100m, 500m & 700m with GPs location depths (0-15 15-30) cm.
Control (2) Idu Ekpeye outside area concentration sites. These chosen determine by comparative assessment, impact properties sites.
Place Duration Study: This carried out in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area Rivers State. because high volume petroleum activities. Oil processing, production, transportation utilization power generation occur daily resulting numerous cases environmental degradation pollution.
Methodology: explores presents method analysing Niger Delta so provide data required complete analysis evaluation various observed noted health effects Delta. Different proximities 200m, 500m, 1000m, 5000m 7000m hand aguar equipment sampled (0-15)cm (15–30)cm taken measurements experimentations meticulously out.
Results: results obtained show marked trend all parameters considered indicated gradient away points flow stations such pH changing acidic (4.0-4.2) near neutral (6.4-6.6) average low moisture content (17% - 23%) against 40% (10m 20m) distance. quantity carbon emitted these flares are about 2,525,000.00 tonnes per day. values portray bad omen affected communities.
Conclusion: Contamination agricultural soils trace metals creates serious risk introduction xenobiotics into human food chain. fertility is being reduced has revealed an increase temperature along-side distances.
recommends that should be seen violent action people flared channelled meeting ever increasing demand energy industrial sector economy.
